Match Report: Home draw with Atletico Madrid (1-1)

Valencia CF Femenino welcomed Atletico Madrid on Sunday, 7th of November at 11:30 am kick-off time at the Antonio Puchades on Matchday 9 of Primera Iberdrola.  

VCF Femenino started the game with the shackles off, aware of the tough opposition who took the lead through Thembi on 11 minutes.

VCF Femenino refused to back down and took the game to the opposition despite the goals. The game saw a cagey spell after the goal with chances few and far between for either side.  

Marta Carro cancelled out Thembi’s early opener over the half-hour mark with a pin-point header beyond Lola from an Ana Torrodà corner kick delivery.      

The rest of the half played out without further incidents and the first half locked together at 1-1 at halftime. 

VCF Femenino had a much better start to the second half bringing menace into the opposition box very switched on with a series of forays and corner kicks in quick succession.  

The game opened up despite being finely poised as VCF Femenino tried to probe down the wings with fitness and physicality proving decisive. 

 Enith stood her ground to pull off a fine save on a one on one against Deyna on 76 minutes.  

Candela and Altuve made themselves a nuisance for the opposition with incisive runs in behind Atletico Madrid's defence. VCF Femenino picked up a hard-earned home draw with Atletico Madrid.
